CPA Canada’s Pivot wins six golds at the 2019 National Magazine Awards, including Best Magazine

Strategic Content Labs worked with CPA Canada to bring Pivot to life and continues to provide strategic, editorial, printing, distribution and advertising sales services

Toronto, May 30, 2019 – Pivot magazine, published by Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) and produced in partnership with Strategic Content Labs (SCL), captured an impressive six gold awards, including Best Magazine at yesterday’s National Magazine Awards: B2B. The magazine’s vision and concept was envisioned by CPA Canada and its name captures an essential aspect for success in today’s ever-evolving global economy—organizations being able to pivot, or change direction, quickly to adapt and ensure long-term success.

“Pivot is bold, authoritative, inquisitive and entertaining,” says Heather Whyte, publisher and senior vice-president, marketing communications and public affairs at CPA Canada. “Receiving the Best Magazine award in our first year of operation validates our belief that Canadian business leaders are inspired by stories about managing rapid change and implementing innovative practices that drive economic and social benefits.”

CPA Canada partners with SCL, a division of St. Joseph Communications, to deliver the national accounting body’s flagship publication six times a year. The SCL team on the project includes Managing Director of Content Maryam Sanati, Senior Editor Luc Rinaldi and Art Director Adam Cholewa.

SCL worked with the CPA Canada team to bring Pivot to life so it could be delivered to the organization’s members and the broader business community. Whyte adds: “These awards are an inspiration for the Pivot editorial team as we strive to deliver important insights and analysis about the people, organizations and ideas shaping the future of business.”

That sentiment is echoed by Douglas Kelly, SCL president.

“We are thrilled for Pivot to be named Best Magazine along with the recognition that comes with wins in other categories including Best Profile of a Company, Best Profile of a Person and Best Art Direction of a Complete Issue,’’ says Kelly. “We are all very proud of this magazine. Pivot is well written, thought provoking  and well designed. It speaks to CPA Canada members and the larger business community.”

SCL provides strategic, editorial, printing, distribution and advertising sales services to CPA Canada. The magazine is published in English and French. A digital edition is also produced.
